Abstract

This study aims to describe: 1) the role of parents in the implementation of character education at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Pemalang who live in Pemalang. 2) Supporting factors and inhibiting factors for character education of students at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Pemalang who live in Pemalang. The method in this research uses qualitative research with a descriptive design. The collection technique used in this study consisted of interviews and observations. The validity of the data was tested using triangulation of sources and triangulation of techniques. Data analysis using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. This study shows the results that: 1) Parents play a role in the implementation of student character education. 2) Implementation of character education that is carried out by parents every day. 3) Even though parents have different backgrounds, parents always prioritize character education for students. 4) Supporting factors are parents, family environment, role models, peers or associations, education and society. 5) The inhibiting factor in the implementation of student character education is that parents experience difficulties when teaching discipline to wake up and sleep on time, pray 5 prayers on time and on time.
