Abstract

The purpose of this study is to show a better understanding of Watching English video channels in YouTube as learning support media, based on perceptions and opinions about the benefits of its use from students of the English department of the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using a phenomenological approach. The data from this study were obtained from the interview method with four eighth semester students majoring in English education, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta in 2020. The data analysis technique used in this study used interactive data analysis techniques which aim to produce research data that is accurate, simple, and easy to understand and can focus on research objectives or answer research questions. The results of this study indicate that watching English video channels In YouTube can help understanding English material, the use of YouTube as learning support media and reference medium is friendly user platform for students, and students feel enjoyable when learning using YouTube as a learning support medium.
