Abstract

This research aims to: (1) develop comic as a instructional media about mountain disaster Mitigation vulcano eruption in SMA N 1 Polanharjo, and (2) to know the effectiveness of comic as instrument of learning process to increasing comprehension of students about mountain disaster mitigation volcano eruption on X grade in SMA N 1 Polanharjo. Comic Media was developed using the modified 4D into 3D model. The research subject was the student of X IPS 1 as experiment class and X IPS 2 as control class. Data analysis techniques using T-test to determine the effectiveness of comic. The results showed that comic media assassement by student and teacher getting score of 4.15 which belong "good"category. Assessment of material experts and media experts acquired an average rating of 4.31 so that comics belong to the "good" category. Based on the processing of student learning data shows Ho rejected and Hi received with Sig 0.000 and 0.000 where sig < 0.05. The average value of the control class was 75.45 with an increase in learning outcomes at 41%. While the experimental class shows an average value of 78.86 with an increase in learning outcomes of 76%. The results showed that effective comic-learning media to increase students ' understanding of mountain disaster mitigation materials erupted and improve student learning outcomes compared to conventional learning.
