Abstract

The purpose of this research study are to describe: 1) Implementation of a full day school system at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar, 2) The social interaction of students in full day school, 3) The teacher's strategy in delivering learning material after the implementation of full day school. This type of research is a qualitative research with ethnographic design. The resource persons of the study were the homeroom teacher, six students and one of the extracurricular coaches. Data collection techniques are done by observation and interviews with teachers and students. Data analysis techniques with data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The results of this study indicate that: 1) the implementation of full day school has been done since 2017, the learning time is from 7 to 3.15. The school also emphasizes character education inside and outside the learning activities, as well as the availability of extracurricular facilities provided by the school; 2) more intense interactions occur between students and teachers and between students and students during class hours, during breaks and also during extracurricular activities; 3) the strategies teachers use when learning by using varied learning methods and making classroom conditions fun.
