Abstract

The current development of traditional markets has declined due to the increasing number of malls or modern markets that are increasingly in demand by the public. So that trade interest has declined in the traders, which has resulted in a quiet market. However, physical improvements such as those carried out by the government through a market revitalization program are considered to have no significant impact. Then a new concept is needed to improve its competitiveness, in this case there is an art market that can become a tourist attraction. The development of the Barukoto traditional market which will become an art market can be a creative tourist destination that is expected to increase competitiveness which will later target tourists who come to the city of Bengkulu. The application of the neo vernacular architecture will retain the distinctive characteristics of the Bengkulu building which is still combined with modern styles to attract visitors. The concept of creative tourism will also improve the quality of market visitors who originally only bought souvenir products but also participated in an activity on the market. As well as through this concept it is also expected to be able to increase the economy of local communities and support tourism around the market so that through tourist tracks will be able to enhance the impressive travel experience and get to know the city of Bengkulu better.
