Abstract

In the village of Cepogois a metal craft center in the form of copper, brass and aluminum. As one of the centers of the handicraft industry, there must be a continuation or regeneration of the successors of copper handicraft business, the regeneration of this business is expected to come from the children of copper craftsmen, copper crafts have good potential and began to be known in various parts of the world. With these conditions, it is necessary to analyze the continuity of copper handicraft business that affects the existence of copper crafts in the modern era and its survival so that it does not become extinct which aims to determine the characteristics of copper craftsmen and analyze the participation of young craftsmen in the copper craft business. This study uses a census method by interviewing respondents of 26 people, the results of the interviews were processed using frequency tables with a descriptive qualitative approach. The results showed that the majority of craftsmen were 80.7% of men aged 16-30 years, 16.3% of women aged 16-30 years, education of most craftsmen of high school children or still graduates and students 61.5%, average income Rp. 2,000,000 - Rp. 4,000,000 every month, the number of family dependents is 1-2 people as much as 27%. The average value of participation is 3 (less participation), the value of knowledge of the copper craft manufacturing process is on average 3 (not knowing), the average perception value is 4 (having a good perception in the future) and the average interest in copper handicraft business 4 (interested).
