Abstract

This research had three objectives: (1) to describe the audience’s response to Lolita movie, 2) to find out the different response based on background gender, 3) to find out the different response based on background marital status. This study used qualitative research methods. The data source consisted of primary and secondary. Primary data of this study was the response to the subject after watching this movie. Secondary data sources were books, journals, articles, papers, dissertations, the internet, and other sources related to the study. This study used document review for collecting data and the analysis data consisted of three flows of activities that occurred simultaneously namely data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The result this studies, first, the view’s view experienced one stereotype, so that the audience seemed to experience gender bias. Second the audience’s view toward men who answering briefly and giving the keyword, while women givinga long answer. Third, the audience’s view considering the men looked judgmental, while the women looked more empathy. Forth, there was a stereotype so the audience’s considering that the men tend to use a harsh word, while the women tend to use a soft word.
