Abstract

Nutritional status is still one of the nutritional problems faced by Indonesia, especially in school-age children. This is proven by the results of Riskesdas on 2013, which stated that the percentage of nutritional status based on the TB/U index for the children is around 5-12 years is 30.7% which consists of 12.3% very low and 18.4% low. Lack of nutrition both in quality and quantity caused disruption to body processes including impaired brain structure and function. Snack habit is an activity that can not be separated from our society especially the students. Nutritional status and snack habit can affect the students’ learning achievement. The learning achievement is one of the assessment in the learning 2 process which is achieved by the students to describe and measure their abilities level. This research aimed to determine the correlation between nutritional status and snack habit towards students’ learning achievement in SD Negeri Karangasem 3 Surakarta. The research was an observational research using cross sectional design. The number of the respondents was 41 students grade IV and V selected through sampling techniques, which are proportional random sampling and simple random sampling with the lottery system. The nutritional status of the students was obtained through the anthropometric measurements based on the TB/U index z-score. The data of the snack habit were obtained through interviews with the food recall method for consumption of the snacks for 7 consecutive days, while the students’ learning achievement was measured by the average score of the Final Examination (UAS). The obtained data were analyzed through Pearson Product Moment. The research showed 5 students (12.2%) very low, 6 students (14.6%) low, 21 students (51.2%) do usual have snack habit and 14 students (34.1%) had low of learning achievement. There was no correlation between nutritional status and students’ learning achievement with p-value of 0.186 and there was no correlation between snack habit and students’ learning achievement with p-value of 0.960.
