Abstract
This study aims to reduce student’s anxiety in learning mathematics by using ice breaking on the students of class X Automotive B in SMK Muhammadiyah Kartasura. This study is a classroom action research conducted collaboratively between researchers and math teachers. The recipients of the action are students of class X Automotive B SMK Muhammadiyah Kartasura as many as 28 students and the subject is the teacher of mathematics. Data collection techniques in this study are interviews, observation, documentation, and field notes. Data analysis techniques in this study are reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study are the provisions that exist in mathematics learning, this can be seen from the following data: 1) Students always think negatively about action before there are 15 students (53.57%) after being given action to 9 students (32, 14%) , 2) Uneasy if the exercise is approached by the teacher before the action there are 10 students (35.71%) after being given action to 5 students (17.85%), 3) Students often do not go to school if there will be a repeat or not working on the project (PR ) before the action there were 3 students (10.71%) after being given the action to be 1 student (3.57%). Based on the description, it can be concluded that ice breaking can reduce students' emotional level in mathematics learning.
