Abstract

This study aims to analyze (1) students 'difficulties in solving material integer story problems, (2) factors that cause student difficulties in solving story problems, (3) describe solutions to overcome students' difficulties in solving integer material story problems. The type of research used is mix methods. Data collection methods used are test methods, interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use 3 grooves, namely data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing or verification. The results of the study conclude that (1) students' difficulties in solving Mathematical story problems are (a) difficulties in understanding the problem, namely that students are 2 not used to writing down what is known and what is being asked of the problem. Students have not been able to manage the work process well, still lacking in workmanship, and seem rushed; (b) difficulties in planning completion, namely students have not been able to make Mathematical sentences based on what was asked of the problem. Students are not accustomed to working by writing down what is asked of the problem; (c) difficulties in carrying out completion, namely students are less careful in calculating. Students are not accustomed to working on concluding the final results of the answers obtained; (d) students do not know how to check again. Students are in a hurry and are not careful in doing it. The lazy student examines the answer again. (2) factors that cause students to experience difficulties in solving story problems due to two factors, namely internal factors and external factors; (3) a solution to overcome students' difficulties in solving story problems, namely by multiplying the practice of story problems, giving remedials.
