Abstract

Nowadays, there is growing number of students abroad expecting to get more qualified education. Self-adaptation is very important in this case. Factor influencing good self-adaptation is emotional maturity due it has great important role to help them adapting in new environment for foreign students. The objective of the study was to know the relation between emotional maturity and self-adaptation of foreign students in Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The study was conducted in Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The technique of sampling was quota sampling. The measurement used were scales of emotional maturity and self-adaptation. The analysis of the study used product moment with the assistance of SPPSS 16.0. The result of the analysis of product moment correlation showed that the coefficient of the correlation was 0.450 with p < 0.005 indicating that there was positive significant correlation between emotional maturity and self-adaptation. Based on the result, it could be concluded that the subject of the study had intermediate emotional maturity and intermediate self-adaptation. The effective support between emotional maturity variable and self-adaptation was 20.3%
