Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the type of illocutionary act that is used in the dialogue or the main character’s utterances in the Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie. Secondly, the researcher wants to identifies the intensions which implied in the main character’s utterances. The object of this research is the illocutionary acts found in the main character’s utterance in Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie. This research type is qualitative research with used descriptive method as technique of analysis. In terms of data collection, the researcher uses documentation techniques and classification methods to analyze the data obtained. The data in this research is the form of speech uttered by the main character that contains the illocutionary act. The results of this research is, there five types of illocutionary act found in the speech of the main character in the film dialogue, namely representative, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative. From the 98 data found by the researcher, the largest number of illocutionary acts included in the type of directive with a total of 47, the second representative with the total of 30 data, followed by commissive with 15 data, then with 7 data is expressive, and last only with 1 data found is declarative. Thus, it can be seen that the type of iloocutionary act that most often appear in the utterances or dialogue of the main character is directive with question and command as the intentions.
