Abstract

Reading the Qur'an is a basic ability that must be possessed by every student, because the process of learning Islam itself is a condition with the proposition and sources taken from the Qur'an. SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta as one of the formal educational institution that is characterized by Islamic religion, aims to produce graduates who have character, morally, have a broad and competent insight and able to read the Qur'an well and correctly according to the rules of science tajwid . To achieve the goal of SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta made several efforts to improve the ability to read and write Al-Qur'an students. The formulation of the problem in this research is how the efforts of Islamic Religious Education teachers in improving the ability to read and write Al-Qur'an class VII students in SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta and what factors affect the efforts of teachers PAI in improving the ability to read and write Al-Qur'an students at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta. While the purpose of this study to describe the efforts of PAI teachers in improving the ability to read and write Al-Qur’an class VII students in SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta and describe the factors that influence efforts to improve literacly ability of Al-Qur’an students in SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta. This study is a qualitative study. The subject of this research is the teacher of Islamic Religious Education. Methods of data collection used are observation, interview, and documentation. While the data analysis using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques conducted by giving meaning to the data collected, and from that meaning drawn conclusions with inductive mindset. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the effort made by the teacher of PAI in improving the literacy ability of the students of class VII in SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta, namely: (1) Students who still Iqro ', guided intensively by guided one by one and always given motivations that can foster the spirit of students; (2) Students with medium reading skill, guided by drill method; and (3) Students who have been able to read the Qur'an fluently and right makhārajul hurūf though tajwid not all of them are right, guided by independent learning. The teacher only listens to the students' reading and directs if there is a mistake. The factors that influence the efforts of PAI teachers in improving the ability of smear students, namely the presence of supporting factors and inhibiting efforts of teachers in improving the ability of PAI BTA students.
