Abstract
THE EFFECT OF WORK STRESS ON THE PERFORMANCE OF EMPLOYEES WITH JOB SATISFACTION AS AN INTERVENING VARIABLE ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to analyze work stress, job satisfaction and employee performance. Job satisfaction variables play a role as an intervening variable of the relationship of work strres on the performance of eployees. This research was carried out by using quantitative analysis with 101 bank employees taken as the samples of the research. The data collection techniques of this research was done through a questionnaire with Likert scale. TheAnalysis of the data in this research was done by using multiple linear regression analysis. The result of a significant probability on the relationship of variables were measured by using t test and the intervening test was done by using Sobel test. The results in this research indicated that work stress had no effect on job satisfaction. Job satisfaction does not affect the performance of employees. Work stress has a significant positive effect on the performance of employee. Therefore, work stress has direct effect on the performance of employee, whereas, job satisfaction does not act as intervening variables, as satisfaction cannot explain the indirect effect of work stress variables through satisfaction toward performance. Keywords: Work stress, job satisfaction, employee performance
