Abstract

This study aimed to describe the students error and factors that cause students experiencing error in completing the word problems about two-dimentional figure.This type of research is qualitative descriptive. The research subjects are 11 student draw from all students in grade VII A in MTs of Sukoharjo Country. Analysis framework was developed based on the relational understanding consisting of 5 types of error which restate a concept, classyfy objects based on the conditions that have shaped the concept have been met, presents the concept in various forms of mathematical representation, associate various mathematical concepts, and apply the concept algorithms. The most widely experienced student error are associate various mathematical concepts and apply the concept algorithms .The causes of the error experienced by students is general that for students who lack the ability to interpret the intent of the question, students who lack understanding of the concept of mathematical calculations, and understanding the language of mathematics students who are less.
