Abstract

Based on the results of the 2019 National Examination, as reported in assessment center of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the understanding of MTs students towards the lessons is lower than junior high school students especially in English lesson. the success of education in an educational area is determined by the success of the teacher in carrying out the teaching and learning process which a teacher is xi able to teach professionally. An effort to improve the competence of teachers, the Ministry of Religion held a continuing professional development (CPD) training to English teacher of Islamic Junior High School. The aim of this research was : (1) To describe the implementation of CPD training for English teacher and (2) identify the challenges faced by the English teachers. This study belongs to qualitative research that the data were obtained through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documents. The data were analyzed using model of Miles and Hubberman (1994). This includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The result shows that the implementation of CPD training uses face-to-face mode which is carried out IN and ON. There are no significant challenges that are faced by the English teacher. The problem is related to technical problems. The main problems are distance, time, and finances. Based on the finding above, it can be an evaluation to practical
