Abstract

This study aims to analyze the financial performance of the company PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk for the period 2019-2021 as measured using the Economic Value Added (EVA) method. The type of research used is quantitative research, the population of this study is a mining company in the metal and mineral mining sub-sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the sample of this research is PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk. The data collection technique used is the documentation method in the form of the annual financial statements of PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk for the 2019-2021 period. The assessment of the company’s financial performnace in this study uses the Economic Value Added (EVA) method to determine the increase in the company’s economic value from the funds invested in it. The results obtained from this study indicate that the company's EVA fluctuated, namely in the 2019-2020 period the EVA value is positive or EVA > 0 which means that PT Merdeka Coper Gold Tbk was able to cover its capital costs and gain profits exceeding the required minimum rate of return, while in the 2021 period the EVA value is negative or EVA < 0 which means that PT Merdeka Coper Gold Tbk cannot cover its capital costs and does not earn a profit exceeding the required minimum rate of return. The financial performance of PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk is not good because EVA fluctuates.
