Abstract
The design of the "Heritage Herbal Hub in Nguter Sukoharjo with the Edu-vacation Concept" is motivated by the importance of preserving the cultural heritage (Heritage) of herbal medicine as the identity of the Indonesian nation as well as efforts to develop sustainable educational tourism. Although Nguter Village is known as the center of the largest herbal medicine industry in Indonesia, this area does not yet have complete facilities, one of which is an integrated educational and tourism place that can answer the needs of today's generation in understanding, appreciating, preserving and continuing the tradition of Indonesian herbal medicine. The main objective of this design is to create an integrated area that integrates the functions of education, recreation, production, and preservation of local culture related to herbal medicine and herbal plants. The Edu-vacation concept is applied to present an interactive and enjoyable space experience, where visitors can learn directly about the history, manufacturing process, and benefits of herbal medicine in a friendly and inspiring environment. The design method is carried out qualitatively with a case study approach, literature study, field observation, and site analysis and space requirements. The design uses the principles of tropical vernacular architecture and zoning based on user activities and spirituality so as to provide comfort for all visitors. The results of this design include the concept of an integrated area to accommodate and preserve the potential of the existing and developing herbal medicine industry in Nguter District, Sukoharjo Regency. The area consists of a museum, herbal garden, education room, herbal medicine laboratory, community and UMKM areas, to recreational and reflective facilities. The contribution of this design is expected to be able to support government programs in preserving cultural heritage and increasing the thematic tourism sector in Indonesia, and can empower local communities through involvement in creative economic activities related to this herbal product industry.
