Abstract

One of the challenges that is often faced by society today is the disturbance caused by the existence of rats. Overcoming the problem of rat pests that disturb the home environment can be done by installing rat traps. The installation of rat traps is not only simply set up, but must use the favorite bait to be able to lure rats into the trap. Luring the entry of rats into the trap, it is usually installed bait such as, roasted coconut, salted fish, peanut butter, and any type of bait. When the bait is expected to be no longer attractive, the type of bait needs to be replaced, in an effort to give the bait keep in mind that rats are very ingenious animals, so 2 traps are not left in storage for a very long time at least 2-3 days, it is recommended that the traps should be checked every day. The relatively cheap price is expected to be used by all circles of society. Data collection methods used in carrying out This study uses an indirect observation method through instrumental research. Observations were made to find information related to the efficiency and safety of the prototype tool. This method begins with the collection of data and information related to the system that will be designed to overcome the problems that have been formulated previously. The trap method can use a door on top of the trap or other mechanism with a servo motor. Detecting the presence of rats, PIR sensors are used. The net container is designed to accommodate the caught rats, with the power source using electricity. An AC voltage step-up circuit is needed to kill rats. The PIR sensor also serves as an indicator to turn on the flow of AC current when the rat is already trapped, allowing for control of the flow of electricity and making it easier to safely retrieve the rat carcass. The system is designed with low cost in mind and meets existing standards of requirements. The design and development of an automatic mouse trap based on a weight sensor and PIR sensor has been successfully completed and tested. This device has the advantage of accurately detecting the presence of mice, working automatically, and being environmentally friendly. With an affordable cost, this device can be an effective solution to address the mouse pest problem in household environments.
