Abstract
Several attempts have been made to obtain good health through promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative ways. An example of a curative method that can be applied is self-medication without going to a doctor (self-medication). Attitudes and actions of self-selection of drugs are closely related to one's knowledge. The purpose of the research was to determine the sociodemographic profile, prevalence and self-medication profile, level of self-medication knowledge, attitudes and behavior, and to analyze whether there is a relationship between sociodemographic, attitudes and behavior with self-medication knowledge of students of the Faculty of Economics and Business UMS. Questionnaires were distributed through written questionnaires or google forms and had been granted permission by the Health Research Ethics Commission, Faculty of Medicine, UMS and fulfilled validity and reliability tests with 32 respondents and a significance level of 5% with r table 0,349 using SPSS statistics 25 used as a primary data collection tool. The number of samples used was 400 students. The method used is observational with cross-sectional method and purposive sampling technique. The analysis of data that had previously been tested for normality was carried out using the chi-square test, rank Spearman, and Pearson product moment. The results of the study stated that most respondents were aged 20-23 years (58,54%), female sex (65,31%), boarding/contracted residences (68,02%), distance to health facilities >2 km (35,23%). The prevalence of self-medication in the Faculty of Economics and Business reaches 92% with the frequency of places to get information, types of disease, and self-medication drugs dominated by health workers (79,40%), cough (83,47%), and cough medicine (74,25%) . The average level of knowledge (59,33% ± 13,74), attitude (72,54% ± 6,44), and behavior (70,21% ± 14,75) of self-medication were in the sufficient category. In addition, it is known that there is no significant relationship between gender (p-value 0,132), place of residence (p-value 0,847), distance to health facilities (p-value 0,401), attitude (p-value 0,059) and level of knowledge someone's self-medication. The results of the study also stated that there was a significant relationship between age (p-value 0,02) and behavior (p-value 0,000) with a person's level of self-medication knowledge.
