Abstract
Ecotourism is present as an alternative to area conservation efforts that can minimize damage as well as divert people from illegal actions to become more environmentally friendly and service providers. However, along with the spread of conservation-based tourism businesses, there were many cases of negligence and mismanagement at the end of 2020 which caused as many as 21 ecotourism areas in Karanganyar Regency to be evaluated. So that ecotourism has not fully achieved conservation goals. This study aims to identify ecotourism management for conservation efforts in Tawangmangu and Ngargoyoso Districts, analyze the carrying capacity of the environment, and formulate strategies to improve and improve area management so that it is managed properly and sustainably. Using qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative is done by observation and interviews, while quantitative is obtained from the results of questionnaires, calculation of environmental carrying capacity, and formulation of management strategies. The results of the study indicate that ecotourism has not fully achieved conservation goals. The success of ecotourism requires involvement by all elements of stakeholders and the tourists themselves. The management actions of tourism actors unknowingly have a bad impact on the ecosystem and the forest itself.
