Abstract
Background: Adolescents are the future generation who need to maintain their health. One of the health problems is premenstrual syndrome. Premenstrual syndrome is combination of physical, psychological, and emotional symptoms that are felt by women 7-14 days during premenstruation due to hormonal fluctuations. Factors that trigger the occurrence of premenstrual syndrome include the level of physical activity. The high symptoms of premenstrual syndrome in female students can cause disruption of activities and learning concentration at school and outside of school. Objective: The purpose is to determine and analyze the relationship between physical activity and the incidence of premenstrual syndrome. Method: quantitative research with analytical observational approach with cross sectional research design.measurement instrument questionnaire with IPAQ and premenstrual syndrome with SPAF. The population in this study were students of SMK Jayawisata and SMK Pertiwi in Surakarta. The total sample selected by purposive sampling technique is 78 respondents. Results: the results of Spearman’s rho is p value 0.238. Conclusion: there is no relationship between physical activity and the incidence of premenstrual syndrome.
