Abstract

This research on the analysis of diction errors in the collection of speech texts by class IX students of SMP Negeri 6 Sragen aims to describe errors that occur in speech texts made by class IX students of SMP N 6 Sragen. In addition, this study is to explain the classification of errors and the frequency of errors that occur in the speech script. This study also aims to determine the causes of diction errors in students' speech texts. This study used the descriptive qualitative method. Subjects in this study are a class IX student of SMP N 6 Sragen, totaling one class, namely class IX A. Data collection techniques in this study were obtained by observations made directly by reading the text of the speech carefully. This research instrument is to hold a written test to make a speech text. Data analysis used to process data from research conducted have been collected, recorded, identified, classified, analyzed, and interpreted to obtain results and conclusions using the guide and basic Indonesian properly and correctly. Data validity is determined by the repeated assessment, the persistence of observation, and discussion of friend peers. The results of this study indicate that in the student's speech text there are diction errors, the first is an error in the use of diction and the second is an error in the use of diction. First, the error in the use of diction is incorrect inaccuracy with the context of the sentence there are 23 errors, ineffectiveness and inefficiency in the use of words there are 27 errors, the use of non-denotative words (connotations) is not found 7 errors, errors in writing words are not found 92 errors. Second, mismatch error using diction There were 14 errors in the use of Indonesian, the use of loan words there were 17 errors, the use of non-standard Indonesian (slang) found 19 errors, the use of conversational words did not find 1 error. The frequency of diction inaccuracy that occurs is 149 errors with a percentage of 74%. The frequency of percentage diction discrepancies that appear in speech is 26% of the total number of errors that occur 52 errors.
