Abstract

Women have an important role in the economy of a region. This study aims to determine the effect of the Gender Development Index, Women's Life Expectancy, and Average Length of Schooling for Women on Gross Regional Domestic Product in the Residency of Semarang in 2016-2020 using panel data regression with a Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results of this study indicate that the Women's Life Expectancy has a positive effect on the Gross Regional Domestic Product in the Residency of Semarang. Meanwhile, the Gender Development Index and the Average Length of Schooling for Women have a negative effect on the Gross Regional Domestic Product in the Residency of Semarang. To realize gender equality and the role of women in encouraging the regional economy, the government is expected to create a policy through several programs and provide funds so that the program runs smoothly.
