Abstract

The pandemic affects many things in everyday life, including one's mental health, especially psychological well-being. Recently, several studies have shown that the psychological well-being of students during the COVID-19 pandemic is in the low category. This is important and a concern for students to prosper and have positive psychological conditions during lectures which can affect the achievement of learning outcomes or the success of student academic achievements. This study aims to examine whether there is a positive relationship between self-efficacy and psychological well-being of active Indonesian university students aged 18-21 years during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses a correlational quantitative approach with accidental sampling method and obtains a sample of 443 active university students in Indonesia. Data collection uses a self-efficacy scale and a psychological well-being scale that is distributed via google form, as well as data analysis using the Pearson's product moment correlation test. The reliability of the self-efficacy scale shows Cronbach's alpha value of 0.849; while the reliability of the psychological well-being scale shows Cronbach's alpha value of 0.765. The results of the research obtained are that there is a significant positive relationship between the relationship between self-efficacy and psychological well-being of students during the COVID-19 pandemic which is seen from the results of the product moment correlation analysis showing the coefficient value r = 0.591 and a significance level (p) of 0.000 (p < 0.01) with the effective contribution of the self-efficacy variable of 34.9%.
