Abstract

The aims of this research are (1) to describe the syntactic level errors in the text of the daily opinion column of SOLOPOS. (2) Describe the factors that affect the level of syntax error. (3) Describing its relevance as teaching materials in high school.The data were in the form of sentences containing language errors in the text of daily SOLOPOS Opinion Column edition in September 2020. The data collection techniques used study literature and documentation. Data analysis used qualitative analysis. The validity technique uses theoretical triangulation techniques. The results shaw that there are 13 language errors at the syntactic level in SOLOPOS daily opinion column. The factors that influence the error at the syntactic level in the SOLOPOS daily opinion column are 1) the influence of regional languages, 2) the omission of prepositions, 3) Error in data sentence structure, 4) Sentence ambiguity 5) Use of inappropriate diction, 6) Coherence and 7) Use of redundant words. The relevance of research regarding errors at the syntactic level in the SOLOPOS daily opinion column, can be used as an alternative for teaching materials at Senior High School (SMA) class X semester I on basic competencies (KD) 3.4 and Core Competencies (KI) 4.4 .
