Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of learning economics in class X IPS 4 at SMA Al-Islam Surakarta and to describe the obstacles faced in the process of learning economics in class X IPS 4 at SMA Al-Islam Surakarta. This research belongs to the type of qualitative research with the type of case study research design. The subjects of this study were students of class X IPS 4 at SMA Al-Islam Surakarta,and a teacher in economics. The data collection method used in this study was through interviews and observations. The data analysis technique used in this study is a descriptive analysis technique with an interactive model. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in the economics learning process in class X IPS 4 is carried out using a scientific approach consisting of preliminary activities, core activities and closing activities. In order to realize student-focused learning(student centerstudents are given the freedom to seek information from various sources (literacy). Strengthening character education (PPK) is carried out throughout the learning process, at the beginning of the learning process the teacher inserts verses from the Qur'an related to the material being studied, apart from being a manifestation of the school's mission, namely providing sufficient basic religious education knowledge to lead students to become people who believe and fear Allah SWT. And the obstacles faced by students in implementing the 2013 curriculum in the economics learning process which is the core subject of the Social Sciences major, students are still accustomed to the previous curriculum where the teacher is the main source of learning, there are difficulties in overcoming students who are less active in class, and it is difficult to manage time management.
