Abstract

The aims of this study are (1) to find out how the principal's strategy is to improve teacher professionalism at MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan Ceper Klaten in 2021? (2) to find out what are the inhibiting and supporting factors in improving teacher professionalism at MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan Ceper Klaten in 2021? The method used is descriptive analysis using inductive thinking. The approach used in this study is a sociological approach. The subjects of this study include: (a) Head of MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan (b) MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan work program (c) Teachers and employees at MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan.The results of this study The strategy of the head of MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan to improve teacher professionalism begins with formulating the vision, mission and goals of the madrasa by observing the external and internal environment of the madrasa and ends with formulating the madrasa strategy contained in the madrasa work program by involving all waka and field coordinators. The management of teacher professionalism improvement strategies at MI Muhammadiyah Sebegan is contained in the long-term and short-term madrasa work plans. The Head of MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan carried out coordination and consolidation in the form of leadership coordination, teacher council meetings and briefings. The Head of Madrasah also makes efforts to carry out work with discipline and honesty, providing compensation and awards for outstanding teachers. The head of madrasah also provides opportunities to improve teacher skills by upgrading such as KKG, training, workshops, and comparative studies. The Principal evaluates the strategy with monthly and annual evaluations, and supervision. The inhibiting factors for increasing teacher professionalism at MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan are divided into 2, namely: (1) factors from outside the madrasa, namely during the covid-19 pandemic there has been no activity to improve teacher professionalism. (2) Factors from within the madrasa include the lack of infrastructure such as lack of laptops, projectors, do not have their own mosque, and there are still teachers who are clueless in IT. Factors supporting the improvement of teacher professionalism at MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan include: (1) MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan has solid stakeholders. (2) The familial relationship among teachers is very close and strong. (3) High enthusiasm for learning. (4) MI Muhammadiyah Srebegan has a young, intelligent, and energetic principal. (5) The Head of Madrasah provides exemplary, motivation, rewards, and rewards to improve teacher professionalism.
