Abstract

Volleyball is a large ball sport, which is played by two teams. There are 6 players in a team. Volleyball games have some basic techniques that need to be learned and mastered in order to play volleyball properly and correctly. The types of basic techniques in volleyball games are: bottom passing, top passing, bottom service, top service, smash, block. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of open smash and semi smash skills in the student activity unit (UKM) Volleyball University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta. the method in this study uses survey methods and data collection techniques using tests and measurements with test instruments from (Nurhasan 2001). The results of this study based on the results of descriptive analysis of the frequency of the open and semi smash research data showed that 1) the level of open and semi smash skills of the Volleyball UKM students of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta from 40 samples in the bad-very bad category (100%) 2) the level of open smash skills of students of UKM Volleyball University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta 1 sample is in the interval 21-30 or in the medium category with a score of 4.76%, 19 samples are in the interval 11-20 or a bad category with a score of 47.50 %, and 20 samples were included in the interval < 10 or very bad category with a score of 50% 3) the level of smash skills of the semi students of Volleyball UKM, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta, 21 samples were in the 11-20 interval or bad category with a score of 52.50%, and 19 samples included in the interval <10 or very bad category with the acquisition of s value by 48%
