Abstract

This research focuses on Apologia Strategy for Pati Regency Government in Responding to Public Doubts on Health Protocols. During the pandemic, Pati Regency Government has taken many actions to overcome the COVID-19 cases in Pati Regency so that it does not increase. However, not all strategies are well accepted by the community. There is an attitude of underestimation and the notion that COVID-19 is just a conspiracy and seeking profit. Of course it is necessary to carry out a crisis response by the Pati Regency Government so that the accusations of the community do not increase and damage the reputation of Pati Regency. The purpose of this study was to see the communication actions taken by Pati Regency Government. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach with the Apologia approach method. The four strategies in apologia theory to respond to crises are rejection, strengthening, differentiation, and transcendence. Pati Regency government implemented all the strategies contained in the Apologia theory. Extremely refused when the Regent of Pati was accused of not implementing health protocols, which made a positive contribution by Pati Regency Government to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases, embraced differentiation when criticizing the lack of justice towards the community's economy when implementing PPKM, and transcendence for the severe condition of Pati Regency when government policies are not adhered to in implementing health protocols.
