Abstract
Tourism is one sector that plays an important role in the economic development of a country or region because it is expected to be able to make a large contribution to the income of the country and the region. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of the Umbul Ponggok tourist attraction on the economy of the surrounding community in Ponggok Village, Polanharjo Sub-District, Klaten Regency. And to determine the business opportunities of the community around the Umbul Ponggok tourist attraction in Ponggok Village, Polanharjo Sub-District, Klaten Regency. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study research design. The resource persons in this study consisted of seven people who were divided into managers, traders, and staff. Data collection techniques used interview, observation, and documentation. The validity of the data used in this study is source triangulation and method triangulation, while data analysis techniques used in this study include data collection, data reduction, data presentation and verification. The results obtained from this study are that there are the perceived economic impacts are the availability of job vacancy and business opportunities for the community, improve community welfare, and increasing village income. While the development more business opportunities for the community around the Umbul Ponggok tourist attraction, namely opening a food stall business, opening a clothing store business, opening a swimming equipment rental business, and opening an underwater photo service business.
