Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of parental work and interest in learning on the academic achievement of accounting education students at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This study uses a quantitative method with a survey research design. The population in this study were active students of accounting education class 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. The samples taken were 248 people. This data collection technique uses a questionnaire, the data analysis technique uses analysis with multiple regression analysis (t test and F test), and the coefficient of determination and the effective contribution of the variables. The result of this study is that the work of parents has a significant effect on student academic achievement with the acquisition of tcount 2.291 > ttable 1.651071 and a significance value of 0.023. Interest in learning has a significant effect on student academic achievement with the acquisition of tcount 12.006 > ttable 1.651071 and a significance value of 0.000. Parents' work and interest in learning simultaneously have a significant effect on student academic achievement with the acquisition of Fcount 121,895 > Ftable 2,324 and a significance value of 0.000. With an R square value of 0.499, which means that the two independent variables have a contribution of 49.9% to the dependent variable. The contribution of X1 is 5.6% and X2 is 44.5% while the rest is influenced by other variables not examined in this study.
