Abstract
The low level of Self Management is influenced by age, gender, education level, comorbidities, occupation/income, time since diagnosis and location of residency. This condition results in blood pressure status, namely controlled and uncontrolled blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self management and blood pressure status in hypertension patients. This research method is a descriptive correlational quantitative research method using a cross sectional approach. The population of this study was 464 patients with hypertension at UPT Puskesmas Pajang from May to December 2021, the number of samples was 100 respondents. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling, the type of accidental sampling. The measuring instruments used in this study were the HSMBQ questionnaire and aneroid sphygmomanometer. And data analysis used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with Chi Square test with a significance level of . = 0.05. The results showed that the most self-management categories were respondents with less self-management as many as 51 people (51%), respondents with sufficient self-management as many as 39 respondents (39%) and good self-management as many as 19 respondents (19%). And respondents with uncontrolled blood pressure status as many as 51 people (51%) and controlled blood pressure status as many as 49 respondents (49%). The results of the Chi Square test between Self Management and blood pressure status obtained p value = 0.001 (< = 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between Self Management and blood pressure status in hypertension patients at UPT Puskesmas Pajang Surakarta.
