Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, students underwent online learning which made them frustrated and eventually caused stress. One form of coping strategy of stress that students do is through emotional eating behavior, namely eating food not because of hunger, but satisfying desires due to not being able to bear the academic burden. Knowing the relationship between stress levels and macronutrient intake for students of the Nutrition Science Study Program, Faculty of Health, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research is observational with a cross sectional approach. The research sample was 67 nutrition students in the seventh semester who were selected using a simple random sampling system with inclusion criteria being willing to become respondents, the seventh semester nutrition students for the 2018/2019 class, did not go on a diet. Stress level data were obtained from the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) questionnaire stress subscale. Data on macronutrient intake using the Food Record for 3 days including weekdays and weekends, analyzed using Nutrisurvey 2007 and compared with the 2019 RDA. Test the relationship using SPSS Spearman Rank test. A total of 50.7% of students had normal stress levels, 20.9% mild, 22.4% moderate, 6% severe and none had very heavy stress. The average energy intake is in the category of severe deficit (66.10%), sufficient protein (96.37%), sufficient fat (101.30%) and severe carbohydrate deficit (47.10%). Relationship analysis showed intake of energy (p=0.829), protein (p=0.709), fat (p=0.739) and carbohydrates (p=0.513). There is no relationship between stress levels and intake of energy, protein, fat and carbohydrates in Nutrition Science Study Program Students, Faculty of Health, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta During the COVID-19 Pandemic Period.
