Abstract

Stunting is one of the problems of malnutrition in the toddler age group. Stunting can be affected by LBW. This study aimed to determine the correlation between LBW history and the incidence of stunting in children under five in the Tepisari Village, Polokarto District, Sukoharjo Regency. A cross-sectional strategy was used in this study, followed by retrospective data. Simple random sampling was used to select 53 toddlers aged 24 to 59 months for the study. The age of children under the age of five was determined by questionnaire interviews, the history of LBW was obtained from the yearly posyandu report, and the incidence of stunting was determined using the TB/U z-score index. The Pearson Product Moment Test was used to examine the link between LBW history and the incidence of stunting . Toddlers in Tepisari Village are mostly in the pre-school category 36-60 (52.8%) and are male (56.6%), while mothers of toddlers are mostly in the early adult category 26-35 years old (60.4%), have had little education (66.6%), and work as housewives (77.4 percent ). The majority of toddlers in Tepisari Village do not have a history of LBW (94.3%) and do not experience stunting (71.7%). There was no correlation between a history of LBW and the incidence of stunting, according to the statistical test (p = 0.892). There was no correlation between the history of LBW and the incidence of stunting in Tepisari Village, Polokarto District, Sukoharjo Regency.
