Abstract

Advertising is an indirect communication through the media as a liaison between producers and consumers. The advertisement’s language is made with interesting but keep do the linguistic rules, for example interrogative sentences. This study has the objectives of (1) determining what types of interrogative sentences are used in the advertisement text in the Solopos newspaper. (2) describe the meaning of interrogative sentences in the advertisement text in the Solopos newspaper. (3) designing the use of research results as teaching materials for Indonesian language learning. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data of this research is written text in the form of interrogative sentences in the advertisement text in the Solopos epaper. While the source of the data used was taken from the written text on the advertisements in the Solopos epaper January 2019 to April 2021 edition. The data collection technique used in this study was documentation, read and take notes. The validity of the data in this study used the theory of triangulation techniques. The data analysis technique used in this research is the agih method and the pragmatic equivalent method. The agih method uses the basic BUL technique (Dividing Direct Elements) followed by advanced expand, insert, and read markup techniques. The results of this study indicate that from 36 interrogative sentence data (1) found 6 total interrogative sentence data, 30 partial interrogative sentence data, namely partial interrogative sentence what elements, partial interrogative sentence whose element, partial interrogative sentence consisting of when, partial interrogative sentence consisting of how many , partial interrogative sentences with why, partial interrogative sentences with how, partial interrogative sentences with why, partial interrogative sentences with the modality of willing, partial interrogative sentences with the modality of wanting, partial interrogative sentences with the modality of can, and partial interrogative sentences with the modality of can, and not found data types of rhetorical and disguised interrogative sentences. (2) contains 11 meanings of interrogative sentences, namely the meaning of circumstances, actions, numbers, actors, identifiers, causes, tools, time, places, methods, and comparisons. (3) utilization as teaching materials in Indonesian junior high school learning.
