Abstract

The process of making foam sheet products at PT Hilal Gemilang Khair consists of several activities, namely pulling, pushing, lifting, carrying and holding. Most of the work is done manually which can cause workers to experience muscle injuries, musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The purpose of this study was to determine the production activities that can cause muscle injury for workers. The method used is Key Indicator Method I and Key Indicator Method II . The steps for researching KIM I and KIM II data are by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The steps for processing KIM I data are: work duration, weight value, load handling conditions, body posture, working conditions and work organization. The steps for processing KIM II data are: duration of work, heavy equipment load, road conditions, unfavorable working conditions, unfavorable properties, body posture and work organization. The results obtained based on the KIM I method, there are 2 activities that have a very high level of risk, namely: Putting wax powder into the thick nees foam machine with a score of 136 and Moving foam sheets into the warehouse with a score of 108. There are 3 moderate activities, namely Installing iron rolls into the warehouse. rolling machine with a score of 48, Lifting the foam sheet to be weighed with a score of 48, and Removing the foam sheet to the machine with a score of 48. 1 low activity is holding the rolling machine to a stop with a score of 18. The results obtained based on the KIM II method have 2 activities high, namely: Pulling foam sheet raw material with a score of 94.5 and Pushing foam sheet raw material with a score of 99. There are 2 low activities, namely pushing foam sheet from the machine with a score of 20 and pulling foam sheet to the machine with a score of 20. Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is a fault tree to identify and analyze factors that can contribute to an undesired event. The results of the research are to propose improvements using FTA in 4 activities that have a very high and high level of risk in the form of reduced load capacity, it is recommended to use transportation/vehicles, reduce load capacity, give rest time, make a bigger place to accommodate wax powder, provide tools help to hold it, it is recommended to lift it alternately and be given a cart to lift it.
