Abstract

Uncontrolled and unsupported changes in land use by good conservation efforts will lead to degradation of land quality. Such as the decline in land quality in cultivation areas and protected areas as buffer areas. Therefore, several steps are needed to improve land quality so that its condition becomes sustainable and balanced again. One of them is by looking at the criticality aspect of the land. The purpose of this study is to analyze the distribution of critical land levels in each function of the Cilacap Regency area and analyze the land use at each critical land level in order to find out how to improve land that has a high critical land level. the spatial analysis of the research uses an overlay of several spatial data determining critical land. The parameters used are based on the Regulation of the Director General PDASHL of the LHK Ministry. This parameters include slope, canopy cover, erosion hazard level, area management and agricultural productivity. The method used is scoring. The results of the analysis show that: 1) The majority of The Cilacap Regency area is in the form of potentially critical land, covering an area of 670,8 km2. The majority of the protected area is an the form of potentially critical land (558,2km2 or 62%) which is widely spread in the Districts of Dayuhluhur, Majenang, Cimanggu, and Karangpucung. The majority of agricultural cultivation areas in the form of non-critical land (606.2 km2 or 81%) are located in the southern part of Cilacap. And the majority of forest areas outside protected areas are potentially critical land in the Districts of Majenang, Wanareja, Kesugihan and Kawunganten. 2) The use of low-vegetation land and settlements that are used in protected areas and forest areas outside the protected areas make the land critical, somewhat critical and potentially critical because it cannot maintain soil stability and inhibits the flow of surface water. The use of residential land in agricultural cultivation areas also makes the land critical due to unsuitable soil conditions. In some areas there are also lands where land use and spatial patterns are appropriate but the land is still critical, this is due to the physical condition of the slopes, area management, agricultural productivity results and canopy cover that do not match the spatial pattern.
