Abstract
The villages of Keloran and Jendi, Selogiri Sub-district are locations for Unlicensed Gold Mining (PETI) due to the existing gold potential, where some residents use mining to fulfill their daily needs. On the other hand, Unlicensed Gold Mining (PETI) actually causes environmental pollution and leads to social conflicts between gold miners and local residents. This study aims to determine the impact of Unlicensed Gold Mining (PETI) on the miners' household economy and the social conflicts that occur. This research uses mixed methods, namely quantitative methods and qualitative methods. Quantitative methods to answer the first research objectives by means of surveys and data collection by questionnaires. Meanwhile, the qualitative method with in-depth interviews was to answer the second research objective. The research sample was taken using purposive sampling technique and the Slovin formula, then obtained a sample of 71 respondents. The first objective of the data analysis technique is descriptive quantitative with a spatial geography approach. Meanwhile, the second purpose of sampling was with in-depth interviews that focused on residents affected by Unlicensed Gold Mining (PETI) activities and obtained a sample of 72 respondents. The in-depth interview data analysis technique uses source triangulation and interactive analysis. The results of this study indicate: (1) The economic condition of the miners' household experienced an increase in income >Rp. 3,000,000 - Rp 7,000,000, housing facilities that have their own house (62%), the most common transportation facilities are motorbikes (61%). (2) The occurrence of social conflicts between residents around the Unlicensed Gold Mining (PETI) and gold miners due to pollution carried out by the miners so that local residents become angry and disappointed, because the social conflict also causes estrangement between the two parties.
