Abstract

The aims of this study are: 1) Describe the strategy for increasing the number of tourist visits to the Madirda Lake tourism object, Ngargoyoso District, 2) Describe the obstacles faced by the manager when implementing the strategy to increase the number of tourist visits at the Madirda Lake tourism object, Ngargoyoso District. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative research type with an ethnographic design. The resource persons in this study included the manager of the tourist attraction development section, the manager of the counter, and the manager of the rides section. Data collection techniques using interview methods, observation methods, and documentation methods. The data analysis technique used is non-statistical qualitative data which consists of three streams of activities that run simultaneously, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The conclusions that can be drawn from this research are: 1) There are several strategies applied by the manager in implementing the strategy of increasing the number of tourist visits at the tourist attraction, including firstly, the manager adds a number of existing facilities at the tourist attraction. The two managers carry out maintenance and cleaning in the tourist attraction area. The three managers carried out promotions through social media and word of mouth assisted by local village youth. The four managers invite the community to actively participate in developing tourism objects. The five managers cooperate with the tourism bureau and the EO of the youth organization. The six managers routinely carry out evaluation and innovation activities for the sake of progress and increasing the number of visits. 2) There are two obstacles experienced by the manager, namely the first is the lack of incoming investment funds for tourism objects. Second, it is difficult to access infrastructure or access roads for tourism bus transportation, especially large buses.
