Abstract

This study aims to determine the response of readers to the film Five Feet Apart directed by Justin Baldoni. This research is focused on the analysis of reader response theory applied by reviewers of Five Feet Apart. Reader response research is divided into two, namely synchronous and diachronic research, in this study researchers used synchronous research to determine reader responses in the film Five Feet Apart. The primary data source is the reader response from the goodreads website. Secondary data sources were derived from several journals or web references and related material in this study. In analyzing research data, researchers use descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques utilizing qualitative data techniques. The objective of this study is to find out the response from the reader in Five Feet Apart films. This research is focused on analyzing reader response theory to know life meanings contained in the Five Feet Apart Film applied by reviewers in goodreads website. The result finding of this study expected to give a benefit for other researchers in process of studying English language and literature, especially the study of reader response analysis that is maybe many people don't know yet about reader response analysis then become a reference to increase the student or researcher knowledge about the literature comprehension.
