Abstract

Coronavirus Disease or commonly referred to as Covid-19 which attacks the respiratory system, severe lung infections and causes death. The Covid-19 virus in some areas continues to increase. Not only that, the Covid-19 pandemic has also resulted in a tension in economic growth and a large increase in the number of unemployed. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the economy in Wonogiri Regency, to find out the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the employment sector in Wonogiri Regency, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on workers in Wonogiri Regency and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on business actors. in Wonogiri Regency with a case study of business actors and workers in Wonogiri Regency. This study uses secondary data, namely GRDP of Wonogiri Regency in 2016-2020, data on the 2016-2020 open unemployment rate, data on the increase in the number of unemployed due to the covid-19 pandemic. Taking samples of business actors and workers in all sub-districts of Wonogiri Regency with a total sample of 50 business actors and 100 workers, plus a key informant, namely the Wonogiri Regency Manpower Office. The results of the data are processed using the formula for the Economic Growth Rate and analyzed using the Comparative Descriptive method. Based on the results of the study, the COVID-19 pandemic had a direct and very bad impact on the economy and employment in Wonogiri Regency. The rate of economic growth which decreased from 4.88% in 2019 fell to -1.63% in 2020, the decrease in the number of economic growth rates led to an increase in the number of unemployed, not only because of the decline in district GDP, but also because of changes in people's behavior regarding the covid-19 pandemic. and policies for restricting social activities. Unemployment in Wonogiri Regency increased by 4.27% from 2019. Business actors/MSMEs also experienced a decrease in income which caused some to have to reduce employees and even have to close their businesses temporarily. The impact on the workforce is that many have been laid off because companies/businesses are reducing employees in order to keep their businesses running during the pandemic.
