Abstract

The city of Solo has been named an automotive city, has a variety of motorcycle clubs and car clubs under the auspices of IKOSA (Surakarta Automotive Club Association). Starting from old motorcycles to the latest motorcycles, blend into one in the IKOSA container. The Mayor of Solo, Fransiskus Xaverius Hadi Rudyatmo revealed that Solo had been crowned the Automotive City in 2018. The coronation of Solo City of Automotive took place at the Manahan stadium, Surakarta, Saturday (10/3/2018), which was attended by various communities from motorcycles to cars (Gridoto.com, 27 October 2019). The declaration of Solo as an automotive city cannot be separated from the history of the first person to own a car in Indonesia, who came from Solo, namely the King of the Surakarta Palace, Sinuhun Paku Buwono X who became the first car owner in Indonesia with the Mercedes Benz brand. In addition, the first F1 driver from Indonesia also came from Solo, namely Rio Haryanto. To meet the needs of automotive events and competitions, circuits with international standards are needed according to the guidelines of the FIM (Federation Internationale de Motorcyclisme) and FIA (Federation Internationale de I'Automobile) as the parent of the world automotive organization. In addition to reviving the automotive sector with an international circuit, it can also be a tourist destination and promotion of local culture.
