Abstract
The role of the PC-228 US-3 comatsu excavator unit in the industrial environment relies heavily on undercarriage components. This affects the performance of the excavator. One of the undercarriage components is sprocket if the sprocket component is damaged then the productivity of the excavator will decrease when operating. Intensive and scheduled care is required. The purpose of this study was to find out the type of sprocket damage, the cause of sprocket damage and how to repair sprocket in the pc 228 US-3 comatsu excavator unit. The implementation is done by visual examination of the sprocket and continued by doing disassembly and assembly to find out the damage to the sprocket. From the results of the disassembly process on the sprocket under caride excavator suffered damage that is already wear out so that it can not channel the perfect spin on the track link that causes the excavator can not run perfectly. The cause of sprocket damage is due to continuous use, minimal care and the age factor of the sprocket itself. Repair steps are taken to replace the damaged sprocket with a new one. Precautions by running daily check and preventive maintenance procedures.
