Abstract

Stress is psychological and physical pressure that responds to situations that are classified as dangerous. Insomnia is a sleep disorder that causes you to feel less calm in initiating and maintaining sleep that occurs continuously. This is caused by physiological, psychological, and social factors. Theipurposeiof thisistudy is to reveal the relationship between stress and insomnia in students of the medical faculty of the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta batch 2021. This research is a quantitative study. The subjects of this study were 100 students of the medical faculty of the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The researchisubjectsiwereiselectediusingiaipurposiveisampling technique with the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) questionnaire and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) questionnaire distributed via googleform. This data analysis technique uses product moment correlation. The results showed that the correlation between insomnia and stress was 0.688 and significant was 0.000 (p < 0.05). Which means that there is a very significant positive relationship between insomnia and stress during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on these results, it can be said that the higher the insomnia experienced by a person, the higher the stress experienced. Then for the effective contribution of 0.474 which means that the role or contribution is related to the value of 47%, the analysis also finds that the main causes of student stress and insomnia are several academic problems, especially when they have to present something in front of the class (offline) and the causal factors other.
