Abstract

Muḥsin is one word but has many meanings. For example, from academics Sufism trained professionals, mufassir, ulama, or others unravel the significance of muḥsin in various ways according to their respective understandings, in addition to that, the meaning of muḥsin does not yet have limiting and binding rules. So it is difficult to understand and practice musin behavior in everyday life. It is not easy for someone to be categorized as a muḥsin. So the word muḥsin still requires further clarification, reviewed according to the point of view of the Qur'an as the holy book of Muslims and it would be better if it was added to an interpretation by an interpreter especially from Indonesia. The research entitled “Penafsiran Muḥsin Menurut Buya Hamka dalam Tafsir Al-Azhar” will focus on discussing the interpretation of musin verses in the Qur'an according to the book of Al-Azhar by Buya Hamka. The approach in this study uses an interpretative approach. Data analysis technique with descriptive-analytical method analyzes the data of muḥsin verses based on the contents of Hamka's Tafsir Al-Azhar. The search results found 20 surahs containing 39 muḥsin verses that describe specifically in the singular and plural, but the researcher only took 24 of the 39 verses, because 24 verses contained the core of this discussion. This research concludes that muḥsin has a definition as a person who does good deeds through the process of 'ihsan' to Allah SWT, by illustrating the figures of the Prophets and Apostles as stated in Surah Al-A'raf (7): 56, Al-Taubah (9): 120, Yusuf (12): 90, Al-Dzariyat (51): 16, Al-Mursalat (77): 44, An-Nisa (4): 125, Al-Zumar (39): 34, Al-An'am ( 6): 84, Yusuf (12): 22, 56 and 90, Al-Shaffat (37): 80. Mu'sin also has characters such as people who like to forgive, always enhance the knowledge of their deeds, people who have a patient nature, etc. So that muḥsin have advantages in several fields, including spiritual, individual or personal, social, and knowledge or intellectual fields.
