Abstract
Landslide is a movement of material in the form of a mass of soil or rock that descends the slope due to disruption of the stability of the material that makes up the slope. Matesih sub-district is a sub-district in Karanganayar Regency which is located on the slopes of the Lawu Mountains which is prone to landslides. The social aspects of the Matesih District area need to be assessed because these aspects are very easily affected by landslide disasters. Matesih sub-district is one of the densest sub-districts, with a population density of 1,560 people/km². Therefore, it is necessary to study the social risk of landslides in this area to minimize losses resulting from the disaster. The purpose of this study, among others, first, to analyze the level of vulnerability to landslides in Matesih District. Second, to analyze the level of social vulnerability in Matesih District. Third, to determine the level of risk of landslides in Matesih District. This study uses a quantitative method accompanied by a field survey to determine the level of hazard with several parameters, scoring and weighting social vulnerability, and determining social risk using a risk matrix by utilizing the results of landslide hazard maps and landslide vulnerability maps. The unit of analysis is a village prone to landslides. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained from government agencies in Karanganyar Regency. In determining the level of vulnerability and the level of social vulnerability by using several criteria, scoring and weighting, as well as determining social risk using a matrix. The results of thestudy were the level of vulnerability to landslides in Matesih District was divided into three classes, namely low vulnerability, medium vulnerability and high vulnerability, for the level of vulnerability to landslide hazards in Matesih District was in the high category, and the level of landslide risk in Matesih District was divided into 2 namely the risk level. low and high risk level. Research conclusionsThe high level of vulnerability to landslides is found in 1 village with a high level of vulnerability, 4 villages with a moderate level of vulnerability, and 4 villages with a low level of vulnerability. All villages in Matesih sub-district fall into the category of high social vulnerability. Then the results of the classification of social risk levels show 4 villages have low social risk and 5 villages have highsocial risk.
