Abstract

handicrafts from Pakem Gebang Village in increasing the creativity of woven bamboo so that their selling power is more competitive. The type of research used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The research subjects are woven bamboo craftsmen and collectors in Pakem Gebang Village. The object of the research is the economic value and marketing prospects of woven bamboo handicrafts in Pakem Gebang Village. Data collection techniques are interviews, observations, and documentation. To ensure the validity of the data, the researcher used triangulation technique. The data analysis technique uses data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of this study indicate that the average bamboo craftsman in Pakem Gebang Village is a housewife. Even though it is a side income, it has a positive effect in meeting the economic needs of the family. One craftsman in Pakem Gebang Village, is able to produce 10,920 pairs of besek in a year, this means that the production capacity of Pakem Gebang Village craftsmen is quite high and can compete with other regions in Indonesia. Marketing of besek handicraft products in Pakem Gebang Village is carried out directly by collectors. Collectors directly take besek products from the craftsmen once a week. The system is more effective than craftsmen selling directly to the market. The collectors take all the besek from the craftsmen at the same price, because the quality of the products produced is equally good. For some besek products that are found to have substandard quality or there are product defects, they will be priced lower than the usual price. Marketing prospects for woven bamboo handicrafts in Pakem Gebang Village can be increased through digital marketing (website, social media, marketplace) so that sales increase, where previously marketing was only done by collectors by means of promotions, advertisements and making attractive logos.
