Abstract
This study aims to describe the process of cultural assimilation in the immigration village and the development of family economic income in Sukamulya, West Borneo. This study was qualitative with an ethnographic design. The resource persons in this study were the Chairman of the Dayak Customary Council in Singkup sub-district, the head of the Dayak tribe in Sukamulya village, two transmigration communities and two Dayak communities. Data was collected through interviews, observation and documentation. The validity of the data used triangulation of sources by comparing the information obtained through other information from other informants. The data analysis technique used interactive analysis. The results of this study indicate that the socio-economic assimilation process in Sukamulya has several stages that occur in stage (1) starting with the migration factor that enters the Sukamulya area so that there is a merger between two different cultures into a new culture which causes some fading of traditional customs and beliefs. in local culture stage (2) is based on the development of socio- economic knowledge with the occurrence of intermarriage processions between different cultures resulting in personal belief in Dayak culture being abandoned by changing religions, and the mindset in stage (3) work has the opportunity to develop aspects of work in the field of oil palm plantations to increase family economic income which is higher in the Dayak community after assimilation occurs.
