Abstract
The objectives of this study are: 1) To find out what are the factors that influence students to work part-time in Buran village, 2) to find out how the learning patterns of part-time students worker in Buran village are, 3) to know what are the difficulties in learning. Faced by part- time students worker in Buran village, and 4) to know how the strategies used by part- time students worker in Buran village to overcome learning difficulties. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews and observations. After getting the required data, the data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results of research that has been carried out, it is found that students work part-time in Buran village are due to: a) increasing their pocket money and income, b) using their spare time, c) adding experience, d) doing it as a passion, e) adding relationships and new friends, f) doing it as an interest, g) getting new skills, and h) reducing parent’s burden. The learning patterns that are mostly applied by part-time students worker in Buran village are discussion/group learning patterns, followed by independent learning patterns, peer tutor learning patterns, and learning patterns with lecturers. The difficulties experienced by part-time student workers in Buran village are: a) exam time in lectures that clash with working hours, b) physical fatigue, c) difficulties in managing time, and 4) difficulties in understanding the material from the lecturer. The strategies taken to overcome these difficulties are, a) reading journals related to lecture material, b) making a time schedule, c) taking breaks, d) determining the priority scale, e) asking lecturers/friends, and f) making learning targets.
